"Just OK"

We stayed here 9/24 and I have to say it wasn't too bad. I'm used to higher quality for AmeriSuites; however having a coupon from a roadside 'saver' book..not a bad rate. I do have to agree with the rest of reviews that it wasn't the cleanest of places...but no bugs or cockroaches to be found. The night we were there it rained buckets..and no leaks..or floods in hotel parking lot. The hotel was nearly deserted.

"Another dump"

Great location less than a mile from Universal Studios, but NOT WORTH IT! 3 pm check-in? Dream on. Get the room you asked for? Is that a joke? Clean and friendly? Wow, are we ever having a disconnect. This place, while fairly new, is a dump. The elevators are slow, slow, slow and don't always work (I had to lug all my stuff down 4 flights of stairs when I checked out because only one elevator was working and the lines trying to get on that elevator were long and surly). The lobby is dirty, as is the dining area. I don't think the staff cleans the dining area. If the previous occupant doesn't clean up after him/herself, it doesn't get cleaned. Service at the breakfast bar was horrible in keeping with the service throughout the hotel. They're bad and they're proud! Want 4 towels in your suite? That's your problem. Want a new bar of soap after you've used the one that they provide? Ha! No such luck. Want the staff to vacuum the room after you've been there for a week? It depends on how they feel when you ask. I've been staying in AmeriSuites hotels for years now, and this was by far the worst one ever. But from what people tell me, most of the mid-priced hotels in Orlando are just as bad. They don't have enough help, and from what I saw, no help may be preferable to not enough help - at least if they're as "helpful" as the staff at the AmeriSuites Universal. But you know what? They could care less. They're gonna fill that dump with busloads of unsuspecting touristas no matter how bad things get. One of these days, folks are going to get real tired of dumps like this, the outrageous prices at Disney and Universal and the treatment they get in town and decide to try something different. Well, maybe not. But we sure will.
