Best Western Plaza International - Guest Reviews

"Very good value"

We have just spent a week at the Best Western Plaza. We specifically wanted somewhere with a reasonable pool area that you could sit by and chill out and that's exactly what we got. The rooms are about standard for the price and only seem to be missing a fridge. We paid the same here as we did for the Quality Inn down the road, which was by no means as nice. We did not use the fee buses, but there did seem to be quite a few people waiting for them. All in all, good value for money and with all the entertainment around this area, you really don't spend long in your room anyway!

"Basic Hotel"

I stayed at the best western for 2 weeks in october 2003, I was accompanied with my wife and 2 small children. I was pretty disappointed with the room, yes it was clean but it was also very very basic - there wasnt really a siiting area and there was no fridge in the room, I also felt at times that the room had a damp feeling about it. We were in a room at the back of the hotel which was adjacent to the very busy Interstate highway which was very busy and very noisy but we got used to it after a couple of nights. I did ask that we be moved to another room and all they had available was a smoking room which I went to have a look at and the smell of smoke was overpowering so I decided to stay in the original room.Being in Orlando, there was lots of things to do and see and after spending days at a time at the parks, you really need to chill out and we did so by going to the pool area which was very good. The kids loved going into the baby pool. The free transport that the hotel laid on was generally good - however the timings of the return busses were strange and I will explain why - The last bus to leave the magic kingdom was at 2115 - if you bear in mind that when the spectramagic parade and the wishes fireworks are on these do not finish until near on 2100 giving you only 15 minutes to get out of the Magic Kingdom get on the monorail back to the transportation park and get to your bus - all in 15 or so minutes CANNOT BE DONE!!!!!!!!!!
however we went to EPCOT to see the illuminations parade and that finished at about 2120 and the last bus back was 2215 this timings gave you more than enough time to get to the epcot bus park and catch the bus - I would suggest that the best western rearrange the timings for the last busses to make them more compatible.I booked the holiday in April and there was no mention of the $2 per day service charge!! yes, when you check in, you are informed that there is a $2 service charge per day.The location of the best western is very good - in the heart of international drive. We went to the beltz one day but was not that impressed, but we were very impressed with the premium outlets shopping mall which was conveniently located at stop 49 on the I ride trolley service. There are plenty of shops and restaurants near to the hotel but we did not get chance to eat out much as kids started to get tired in the evenings after days at the parks. Finally, would I stay at the best western when I go back to Orlando in a couple of years?? No and the main reason that it is far too basic but at the end of the day, you get what you pay for!!
