Disney's Polynesian Resort - Guest Reviews

"Fantastic Resort!"

We were in Disney from 11/18/03 until 11/23/03 with two chidren ages 5 1/2 and 7 - this is the perfect family oriented Disney resort! We all had a blast and when we were not out in the parks we were at the hotel having fun in the pool and shopping in all the shops. We did not try the Luau, but ate everywhere else in the resort and the food and service was fantastic. The rooms are immaculate and the service from everybody was exceptional! Convenient transportation to all area attractions. We're planning another trip to the Polynesian again in 3 years. Highly recommend the Polynesian resort.

"Excellent stay, even in a crowd"

We (my wife and children, son 9 and daughter 8) just returned from 6 days a the Polynesian. It was a wonderful stay even though it was crowded due to NJ. schools being closed and the entire state (it appeared) being at Disney. Service was excellent, staff was friendly and helpful, maid service better than at some 5 star hotels I've stayed in. Of course you can't beat the location on the lake a monorail trip to both Epcot and the MK. Short bus rides took us to MGM and Animal Kingdom. The volcano pool was great fun for the kids and the bikes, speed boats and sail boats are also available for use (at a cost, as is everything in Disney). We stayed in the cheapest room ($299 off season rate) and found it spacious, the bathroom large and the view of gardens nice. We spend about 1&1/2 waking hours per day, including getting ready, in the room so get the cheap room and eat well at Epcot. The French & Italian restaurants were excellent, the Chinese good. The resaurant at the SEA exhibit was overrated. At the Poly the Kona Cafe was good and fast for breakfast, the O'Hana we thought overrated. The Luau was goofy, but fun once the native dancing started after dinner, you just have to sit through a really dumb dinner show first.

"Polynesian a Groovy Hotel"

We stayed elsewhere (Coronado Springs) but ate at the Kona Cafe & hung out on the little beach for the fireworks, in which the sandcastle-building children took no interest. The Polynesian was the only place in the "World" that had a remotely cool, low-key vibe. I hope they never update its retro 70s charm. It will take you back to your childhood, particularly if you grew up in a tiki bar.
