Great Escape

We were greeted by a friendly staff.(actually looked like they enjoy their jobs)The rooms were beautiful. We really enjoyed the view as well as the oversized bathroom with separate tub and shower. The bed was extremely comfortable. Room service was prompt and courteous.Every time we left the room and returned,used towels were replaced.What was nice is we were never disturbed, and never even saw housekeeping. I highly reccomend the Mandara Spa. The people there treat you like royalty. I am self-concious about my weight, and they made me feel relaxed, and comfortable.We used the water taxis back and forth to Universal Studios, Citywalk, and Emeril's Tchoup Chop. We never used our car. Very relaxing. Three beautiful pools, our son was very happy, never bored!! Can't wait to go back!!

"The most wonderful place to stay"

My family (husband and 4 yr old son) and I stayed at the Portofino Bay Hotel this past November 5-11, 2003. Everything there was absolutely perfect. The grounds were beautiful, staff very efficient and friendly, restaurants excellent, pool was child friendly and very well maintained, the water taxi was always available and the atmosphere was superb. I highly recommend this hotel.

"Somewhat dissapointed"

I have to say that the hotel grounds were VERY nice and the free shuttle by water taxi is awesome for getting back and forth to Universal. Pulling into the hotel and arriving inside I was at awe, but the room itself (I stayed in a Kids Suite), I'm not sure was worth what they asked for. Don't get me wrong it was a decent room and having the extra space for the kids was nice, but I guess I expected it to be a little more upscale than it was based on the price and the outside amenities the hotel offered. However, in the hotels defense after a long flight in and arriving in the wee hours of the morning, the guy at the front desk actually did upgrade us to the larger room to make up for the fact that I was paying for a night that I was not even in the hotel. I also commend guest services as they went out of their way to get information for me regarding the attractions. Everyone at the hotel was very nice. I was just surprised that the room was not much nicer than it was. I have stayed at nice hotels before (Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton etc) and I thought this one would be the best, but it was just nice. The room picture on the Web site was somewhat deceiving. You can proably get the same thing at a better value at other area hotels. I don't want to sound too negative, but although my overall expereince was "okay" I would probaly not stay there again. I liked the condo we stayed in for the next week much better than the hotel and it was more than half the price of Portofino Bay.

"the Portifino Bay is not good"

The Portofino Bay SUCKS!!Because it is looks like you are in Rome because the resturants look terrible.Mamma dells resturant ripped us off 1 night we even took pictures with her and she gave me sunscreen and I thought she was nice but she wasn`t!!!!!Don't ever stay at this hotel and the rooms are horrible! Stay at the Royal Pacific instead or the Hard Rock Hotel.
