"WONDERFUL STAY"

Here is the deal, this resort was fantastic just got back august 7 stayed 7 nights. The hotel is beautiful from start to finish the lobby is breathtaking, the pool was great and the rooms were comfy and clean what more do you need complaints of it being in need of maintenance is silly any hotel you stay at needs some repair, but the way the staff makes you feel out weighs the wallpaper that might be peeling. The "Welcome Home" greeeting you receive every night puts a smile on your face. If transportation is an issue rent a car we did you are in disney spend the money. My recommendation utilize the roaring forks cafe. One last thing if you want a full balcony they seem to be facing the pool the others were partial. Go you won't be disappointed.

"In need of better maintenance"

Just got back from the hotel. Found it to be the most poorly maintained of all the Disney properties that we have stayed at. We were on the 6th floor. Room furniture was pretty scuffed, some bathtub tiles were moldy, top railing on bunk bed was loose!!, etc. Overall feeling of "not very clean". This goes for the outside areas of the hotel as well. The hotel just appears to be in need of refurbishment. Overall it just felt shabby for what is supposed to be a top of the line Disney property. After going to Animal Kingdom last year, which we found spectacular, this one we were disappointed with.

"Our best stay at a Disney Resort"

We just got back from the Wilderness Lodge for our honeymoon. It was the most fantastic vacation hotel we have ever stayed at. We have been to Disney more times than I can count, and have stayed at all the moderate resorts. That is usually all the level of service I require: a clean bed, nice ambience, quiet area, and fun pool.
But the WL takes it a step further. We were given a room on the 5th floor overlooking the pool and lake. It was very quiet, relaxing, clean and, yes, romantic. We sat on the balcony during the rainy hours and just listened to the rain fall. You will find a few complaints on here about the lodge but we didn't experience any of that. I agree sometimes the transportation can be difficult. But, there is always more than one way to skin a cat. If you have a car, drive sometimes! I almost always drive to Downtown Disney or other resorts for dinner. It is usually faster and more convenient. The boat ride to the Magic Kingdom and Contemporary also are speedy and convenient.
The Whispering Canyon is the best value for your money for breakfast. You get more than you can eat, great entertainment, immediate service. OK, so if I have to have one complaint, I will make it a minor one. The parking lot is too large, with many of the close spaces reserved for valet. But, of course, if you have no plans on even seeing a car during your stay, it really doesn't matter. If you want to have an unbelievable time at Disney and want a little more in your resort, this is the place for you.
