When to goOrlando is popular year round. January is the coldest month, if you consider a low of 50°F (10°C) and a high around 70°F (22°C) cold. July and August are very hot and humid, with highs around 90°F (33°C), 95% humidity and frequent downpours. This is also when kids are out of school for summer vacation, which leads to long, sweaty queues at the theme parks. Weather-wise, early autumn is best time to travel to Orlando. At the theme parks, weekends tend to be less crowded than the beginning of the week. As far as accommodations go, the cheapest time to travel to Orlando is from early August to mid-December; the most expensive is during the Christmas and Easter holiday periods. Geographic areasWalt Disney World Resort includes all Disney hotels, restaurants, shops and theme parks. International Drive (it is also called I-Drive): great number of hotels, restaurants, cafes, shops and attractions are situated in this long tourist street. The north end of the street is near Universal Studios and Wet'n'Wild water park. The south end is near SeaWorld theme park and the Orange County Convention Center. Lake Buena Vista: Hotel Plaza leads up to Downtown Disney Marketplace. Many restaurants and shops are located here, especially at the Cross Roads shopping Plaza and Downtown Disney. Kissimmee: this area includes Maingate East and Maingate West (named for their proximity to the Walt Disney parks' main entrances). Mainly, it is an area of chain restaurants and budget hotels.
