Getting there and away

Orlando airport

Orlando International Airport (MCO), in the far southeastern corner of the city, is the largest in central Florida. More than 44 scheduled airlines and 41 charters provide nonstop service to 78 U.S. destinations and 35 international cities. Shuttle vans and buses, taxis, limousines and rental cars are readily available.

Train service

Amtrak serves Orlando with four daily trains originating in New York and Miami with stops in Downtown Orlando, Winter Park, Sanford and Kissimmee, and a triweekly train originating from Los Angeles. Amtrak also offers its popular Auto Train that features bi-level Superliner sleepers, a diner and a lounge while transporting passengers and their vehicles.

Roadways

Major highway networks provide easy access for visitors to reach their destination and for traveling around Orlando area.

Getting around

Car rentals

There are a handful of car rental companies at the airport and many more downtown. Although driving within the city of Orlando can be complicated - most streets are one-way and ticket-happy meter maids lie in wait - the area requires a car since it can be difficult to travel outside of Orlando relying on public transport.

Taxi

If renting a car is not an option, use taxi service. Taxis cannot be hailed on the street; you'll have to phone to secure one.

Bus service

Orlando runs a highly efficient and inexpensive city bus system, including a free downtown circuit. Pick up schedules and route maps at the Lynx Bus Center.
