Walt Disney World accommodates the needs of disabled visitors and people with sensory impairments. The majority of attractions are accessible to wheelchair users. In some park rides, guests have to transfer from their chairs onto a ride system. Note that WDW staff are not permitted to physically transfer guests from wheelchairs into some rides. Therefore, it is recommended to have someone with you who can physically help you to get onto the rides if required. Wheelchairs and ECVs may be rented at at the four main Walt Disney World parks. Rent cost is about 6 USD for a wheelchair and 30 USD for a ECV for a day. They can not be reserved; they are hired on a first-come, first-served basis. ECVs and wheelchairs can only be used in the Park where you rented them. Guests planning to visit more than one Park on the same day should retain their wheelchair deposit ticket from the first park they visit. This will enable them to obtain a replacement wheelchair on the same day, if available, at the next Park at no additional charge. Drinking fountains and telephones are located throughout Walt Disney World are at a level accessible to wheelchair users. First Aid Stations are located in each of the theme parks. For visitors with hearing impairments, Walt Disney World provides listening devices (which are available for a refundable deposit), Telecommunications Devices for the Deaf (TDD) and written Aids for most of the attractions. Audio cassettes and portable tape players are also available (with a refundable deposit) to allow sight-impaired visitors gain more from the experience. Braille guidebooks are available from the main information points in each of the parks, and there are many Braille signposts.
